Pillow Series

The sculptures in the Pillow Series are visual contrivances, three-dimensional trompe l’œils. Despite their rigid and hard surfaces, they bring to mind plush comfort. The unusual and colorful mosaic patterns are whimsical and evocative of exotic tapestry, antique lace, and colorful fabric.
As I explore feminine themes, my work plays with the meaning and associations of softness, relaxation, and lightness, while simultaneously expressing the seemingly contradictory properties of hardness, discomfort, and weight.    |
